![]() I looked at the Utilities->Console->System Log, and search for "Resolution", when I turn a display on/off, or switch resolution in System->Preferences->Display: If Photoshop can do what you suggest - render the UI scaled, and render the image at full resolution of the monitor - it would be great to have this in LR. LR might limit the preview size anyway, to 1:1. Any sluggishness that I saw with LR, is simply because large, 5120x2880 previews (15 Mpixel) is a lot more data to shove around, than, for example 1920x1200 previews (2.3 Mpixel) that map directly onto a display with no scaling. The same thing happens on a 13" retina MBP, the Auto Preview size is always 2x the display size selected in System->Preferences->Display. Your suggestion about updating to El Capitan is a good one, but not one I'm prepared to make until a few more iterations of the OS come out. The native resolution of the P2715Q monitor is 3840x2160, and I'm driving it with a HD 7970 graphics card. Thanks for your advice and assistance, much appreciated. I've never seen anything like this anywhere else. If I had to guess, I think it's a LR bug, and not seeing that the 4K monitor is a Retina display. The "(low resolution)" options is Mac OS down sampling the pixels for a lower resolution display, thus making the display fuzzy. It appears you are correct Cletus, LR and Mac OS (Yosemite) don't seem to play well with this particular display. This isn't practical, since everything is too small. The only option that seems correct, where the screen resolution matches the LR sizes, is the native resolution of the display, 3860x2160. However, the display becomes fuzzy, which defeats the purpose of a 4K display.įor any normal resolution, ie not "(low resolution)", the LR System info Display size, and "auto" preview size is 2x the Display resolution. The native resolution, 3860x2160, has no "(low resolution)" option.įor any "(low resolution)" option, the LR System info and "auto" preview size, is not 2x, but the correct size and matches the display. (mine mirrors my display numbers in system preferences (which are set for the "Default for the Displays") I don't have a 4 K monitor and I often resort to using to zoom text to a readable size. I do not have an explanation as to why your LR screen resolution is double the actual. With the OS X API for windows controls used by all apps including LR you may see better fidelity I would recommend the upgrade to OS X 10.11.1 to see if these issues go away. You will want your app to adjust the size of the displayed fonts, buttons and icons so that HiDPI monitor display fonts, buttons and icons at a comfortable viewing size but with greater fidelity due to the higher resolution. This defeats the purpose of getting the 4K monitor to begin with. If the OS or the app being executed can't adapt to HiDPI screens, then you need to down grade the resolution of the monitor. This is the geometry problem that applications need to overcome. The same letter "M" displayed on a HiDPI monitor of 240 dpi, it size will be ~1/20" and take up a square 1/4 the size on the standard display (120dpi). If a character (say the letter "M") is displayed by an app on a standard monitor of 120dpi, it's size will be ~1/10" in a side. ![]() The problem with HiDPI displays is the increased pixel density. You might need to upgrade to ElCapitan - OS X 10.11.1, since it has been tuned to accommodate 4 & 5 K displays. ![]() This Aaliyah single wasn’t exactly what the progressive vocalist was known for - and in fact it was initially a leftover from her previous album, One in a Million. But Aaliyah demonstrates the ease with which she can slip into a neo-soul ballad – with just enough production eccentricities to establish that Timb is indeed behind the boards. That’s doubly true for the video, filled with friends lip syncing Aaliyah’s vocals, and led by a spoken-word DMX message that’s straight-up impossible to watch without breaking down. The verses paint it as a clear breakup song, about being left by her college-bound high-school lover - but with a more ambiguous chorus full of heart-tugging lyrics (“It’s been too long and I’m lost without you/ What am I gonna do?”) and a bird-twittering background hook that sounds like the singer’s soul flying free, it’s a tearjerker anyway. This turn-of-the-century leftover, penned by Ginuwine, Johntá Austin and Teddy Bishop, became an accidental (and somewhat surreal) tribute from Aaliyah to herself upon its posthumous 2002 release. But the late icon demonstrated her ability to serve as a dancefloor siren on this one, which puts “Blurred Lines” to shame (not that you didn’t already know that). Honestly, it’s sort of unfathomable that neither of them are with us anymore. Over a squelching Irv Gotti and Lil Rob beat, Aaliyah generously but firmly grants her man permission to do what he’s gotta do - provided he manages to keep his person intact - while X growls about a dog’s needs. But while her music has long been absent, her impact has never been less than unavoidable: At no point in the last 20 years could you foray deep into the worlds of hip-hop, R&B, pop or even electronic without running across an Aaliyah cover, an Aaliyah sample, an Aaliyah reference - or just an Aaliyah acolyte spouting the gospel through their words and/or their music. With Aaliyah’s classic 1996 sophomore LP One in a Million now available on streaming and at digital retailers - and the rest of her long-absent catalog soon to follow - younger generations will finally able to experience the greatness of Aaliyah’s too-brief catalog for themselves. The 7000D’s top is gorgeous, with the same aesthetics and utility as the front panel. You may delete it if you like, but it’s unnecessary it’s simply worth pointing out the single flaw I see in the design. Another appears as you open the door, which looks lovely but adds nothing except unneeded weight. The introduction of a second panel on the rear panel is my only criticism. ![]() There is a lower-quality dust filter behind the vent than the one in front, but it works well enough and is simple to remove and clean, so no complaints. The 7000D’s rear panel is almost similar to the more minor incarnations, except for a comprehensive vented portion towards the front that allows for installing a third radiator mounting position. This case appeals to me because of the total unbroken view inside, and I can easily envision some fantastic loop ideas for this case soon. The TG panel is thick and substantial, and it comes with an opaque border that neatens things up beautifully. The 7000D’s side reminds me of the Phanteks Enthoo 719, but that’s only because From the Inside seems to be enormous through the glass. The panels can be lifted off, but to ensure the massive, heavy doors are as secure as possible, they have replaced the tool-free nature on the more minor cases with a screw. The rear hinges provide wide-swinging panels with a 180-degree opening. There’s not much more to say about it save for the exposed hinges. While the 7000D and 7000X have the same number of fans, Corsair has pre-installed a 140mm fan at the back to provide out-of-the-box airflow, which we will address later in the Performance section. The stand easily replaces the slot covers, allowing you to install your computer vertically, closer to your motherboard, and away from the tempered glass panel. Because the 7000D is a little more prominent alternative, you can also utilize the accompanying PCIe bracket to gain a secondary vertical mount position. You have eight horizontal expansion slots and three vertical expansion slots in the conventional settings. The rear is almost similar to the 5000 series with more PCIe slots. If you don’t want to sacrifice airflow, you can replace the fans with some RGB 140mm versions and create a distinct appearance at the front. Still, I’d guess most builders who choose this series of patients are seeking water cooling, and the 7000X variant’s enhanced aesthetics would be my preferred pick. For example, the Corsair 7000D is a beautiful alternative for sheer Performance. This mesh filter is a feature I like that goes across the whole iCUE series of Corsair’s current PC cases. The metal mesh top layer may be removed and cleaned, revealing a fabric mesh filter below. While we’d like to see Corsair put more fans at the front, these are in the best place and perform an excellent job of keeping internal temperatures down. We also have two 140mm AirGuide fans, basically branded airflow fans that provide reduced noise levels due to higher CFM. The 7000D model has a perforated mesh front panel instead of tempered glass, distinguishing it from the 7000X. It would not be easy to distinguish it from the other versions starting with the front if it weren’t for its size. Still, the 7000D goes a step beyond and is aimed at hobbyists eager to make something beautiful. ![]() ![]() The 5000 series felt huge for a mid-tower and had plenty of capacity, even for complex water cooling loops. The 7000D stands 600mm tall, 550mm long, and 248mm deep, which puts it 30mm higher than the Phanteks Enthoo 719 full-tower, more significant than the 5000D (520mm x 520mm x 245mm), and dwarfs the 4000-series. This, like the 7000D’s more minor brothers, looks fantastic from every aspect, despite its size. The 7000D comes in multiple colors, and the black edition offers up some RGB LED lighting for extra customization.
